Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX’s James Stewart has not lost hope just yet in his 2012 AMA Supercross championship campaign.
After taking the main event win at the Oakland round, the former champion has ran into problems one round after another.
At the Dallas round Stewart ran into an unfortunate situation with teammate Davi Millsaps.
Millsaps had gone down on the slick, hard surface, with Stewart stalling right in behind him with nowhere to go.
Rejoining the race in 19th position, Stewart put in some hard laps, walking away from Dallas with a sixth place finish.
“Sixth place is not where we want to be. I got a bad start – that’s when things happen,” said Stewart. “Davi fell and I ran into him and that’s when I stalled the bike.
“I did my best to come up and reached sixth from nineteenth and nearly got fifth. I’ve got faith that luck will start to roll my way soon!”
Stewart now sits fourth overall, 42 points behind series leader Ryan Villopoto after seven rounds.
Round eight will take place at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta this weekend.
