Ryan Marmont confirms East Coast Lites campaign for 2012

Aussie Ryan Marmont will return to the U.S. with JDR/J-Star/KTM for 2012 in the East Coast Lites.

Multiple-time national champion Ryan Marmont has outlined his plans for 2012 in an exclusive interview with MotoOnline.com.au.

The 26-year-old has confirmed that he’ll again contest a number of AMA Supercross rounds with JDR/J-Star/KTM, expected to remain in the East Coast Lites series if he is performing well.

Marmont returned to the KTM 250 SX-F yesterday after campaigning a 350 in Australia this season, admitting that he already feels right at home on the Lites bike.

“I just had my first day today back on the 250F and absolutely loved it,” Marmont said. “I just feel right at home on that Lites bike and I can’t wait to get over there, start training hard and get ready for the East Coast series.

“I’m locked in to do the first four and then it’s pretty much a performance-based deal. If I’m doing well enough I can stay and do the whole series, but if I’m not doing too well then I can come home and race back here in Australia.

“I’m going to back myself and say I’ll try stay over there, since the opportunity is there. I’m going to do everything I can to try and be there to finish the season.”

With the East Coast series overlapping the opening rounds of the MX Nationals, Marmont said that there is the posibility of him doing a partial season outdoors once he returns.

“Well if I do the whole East series then I will miss out on the first three rounds of the MX Nationals,” he explained.

“That’s not to say I won’t be back here for the outdoors, because I do have a lot of fun in them, so if there’s a position available with JDR then I’m pretty sure they’d give me a shot to finish the series off.

“I’d be keen to do that, so we’ll go from there.”
