Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Dean Ferris has his sights firmly set on success in the MX1 Motocross World Championship next season after concluding his domestic career last weekend at the Super X finale in Queensland.

Ferris was hoping to finish the season on a high note in Ipswich, but had to settle for ninth after a difficult main event that included a crash in the closing laps.

Despite his struggles during the season, Ferris is certain that everything he learned will be vital when he races in Europe next year.

“It would’ve been nice to get a win tonight and go out on a high but it didn’t happen and I now look forward to bigger and better things,” Ferris said.

“I gained a lot more confidence and grew up a lot this year so that should help me in the world championship.

“I’d really like to thank Monster Energy Kawasaki and all of the sponsors for their support throughout this year.”

Reflected on the series, Ferris said his eighth place result is a disappointment, but marked his podium in Maitland as a highlight.

“It wasn’t really how I wanted it to go. I wanted to win the championship but after the second round where I DNF’d, it was kinda out of reach,” Ferris reflected. “Then I had another bad round at Campbelltown.

“From there I just focussed on winning motos and I got on the podium last week. That was cool, that was my first ever supercross podium.”

Earlier this week, Ferris headed to Europe to commence initial testing with the ICE1 Racing Kawasaki team that he’ll compete for in 2012.
