Queensland rising star Todd Waters admits he’s disappointed that the Monster Energy Super X series has concluded, gaining speed and confidence in the closing rounds of the title chase.

Waters was strong throughout practice and qualifying in Ipswich’s finale, before he finished his heat race second and greeted the chequered flag fifth at the completion of the 20-lap Open final.

“I felt really strong tonight,” Waters said. “I had a good heat race and was leading my man-on-man qualifier but I made a mistake and Tye passed me in the last section.

“I didn’t get the best start in the final, but I stayed out of trouble and worked my way through to fifth.”

“It has been a difficult year for me, trying to come back after injuring my wrist at the beginning of the year. I felt I was finally getting some momentum and now the season is over.”

The Ipswich round marked Waters’ final appearance with the Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing team, switching to Motul Pirelli Suzuki for season 2012.
