Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Dean Ferris snatched his first overall Super X podium at Maitland, a key breakthrough following a frustratingly inconsistent season to date.
Ferris scored 7-1-3 results in the Triple Header, earning second overall behind runaway series leader Matt Moss with one round to go.
With consistency the major goal for Ferris during the round, he was happy to pick up his third final victory of the season.
“It’s my first podium of the series so I’m excited about that,” Ferris said. “For me to put a whole night together and not lay it on the dirt is a huge plus for me.
“I’m tied for race wins with Moss, but it’s crazy because he’s leading the championship and I’m nowhere because I’ve pretty much winned it or binned it apart for tonight.
“Tonight I accepted getting a third and a seventh, with the race win. The Monster Energy Kawasaki KX250F is working really well. I’m really stoked that the boys could build me such a great bike.”
Ferris now sits seventh in the standings heading into Ipswich this weekend in Queensland.
