Four-time outdoor champion Jay Marmont has revealed that he’s not yet signed with any team for next season, despite the majority of industry insiders linking him with Monster Energy Kawasaki.

The current CDR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha rider, fresh from his win in the Sydney round of Super X, told MotoOnline.com.au yesterday that he hasn’t yet signed a contract, but is deep into negotiations with Troy Carroll’s factory Kawasaki team.

Marmont, 28, remains the key to the Australian silly season at this point, with a lot of seats due to fall into place once he settles on a position for both the MX Nationals and supercross next season.

“I’ve spoken to both parties and the deal’s not done,” Marmont explained. “There’s no letter of intent been signed, nothing signed, but Kawasaki definitely want me and I’ve been in negotiations with them for a bit.

“It’s kind of just a matter of me putting pen to paper and the deal will be signed.

While a move to Kawasaki’s KX450F would mark a fresh start for 2012, Marmont isn’t denying the gamble that he’s taking by leaving CDR Rockstar Yamaha, the team that he’s had so much success with over the past four years.

“I don’t have my doubts, but it is hard to leave a thing that’s working really well with Yamaha,” he added.

“Once I come to terms with it then I’ll put pen to paper, make a decision.”

A decision is expected to be made before the end of Super X this month.
