Aussie Chad Reed has returned home this week, opting out of the Monster Energy Cup.

Australia’s Chad Reed returned home this week, confirming that he’ll sit out next month’s Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas.

Season 2011 has marked a spectacular one for the 29-year-old, launching his own team in TwoTwo Motorsports and racing to top three results in both the AMA Supercross and Motocross series.

Despite piecing together the TwoTwo team just weeks in advance of Anaheim’s Supercross opener, Reed rose to the occasion and scored multiple wins during the year.

However, he’s opted out of the Monster Energy Cup that will be held at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on 15 October, instead chosing to recharge his batteries for a massive 2012.

“Lots of questions about Vegas race…simple form. I’m beat and need family time! Been a MASSIVE yr that I’m very proud of. PR info to come,” Reed wrote to his fans on Twitter.

Earlier this month, Reed headed Team Australia’s charge at the FIM Motocross of Nations in France, winning the opening MX1/MX2 moto and boosting the team onto the podium.

Reed has also confirmed that he won’t be contesting any rounds of the Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, this year.
