MX1
Coming back to victory after his latest appearance on the top of the podium at Loket 2008, Yamaha Monster Energy Motocross’ Philippaerts stormed from fifth to second in the Championship as he picked up 47 precious points while Championship leader Cairoli and third placed Barragan struggled.
Yamaha Red Bull De Carli’s Cairoli suffered after yesterday’s crash and soldiered on to finish both heats and take eighth overall, retaining the red plate eventually. Barragan was handed third by Nagl –who crashed- in heat one but a crash in moto two ruled the KTM Silver Action Spaniard out with a broken clutch.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Nagl took second on his first season podium as the German looked the strongest on the track today. Leading most of heat one, he fought back after Philippaerts snatched the lead but crashed and ended fourth. In heat two he took his revenge dominating ahead of the defending Champion.
Courtesy of a second and a third place finishes LS Motors Honda’s Desalle rounded up the podium but expressed his disappointment for a fall in the early stages of heat two.
Yamaha fellow riders Coppins and Leok rounded off the top five ahead of a solid Pichon and injured De Dycker.
Home hero Billy Mackenzie struggled with an injured thumb to end 13th overall.
