Three-times AMA Motocross Lites Champion Ryan Villopoto is out for the remainder of the season, set to undergo surgery on a nagging injury after failing to make the races at Hangtown’s second round yesterday.
Villopoto won the opening round of the series at Glen Helen last weekend in convincing fashion in what was his first 450 outdoor national appearance, looking set to be the dominant force in the series until his devastating injury surfaced.
It’s yet to be determined whether or not Kawasaki will replace Villopoto for the remainder of the season on the factory Monster Energy Kawasaki KX450F, which is the defending champion bike after winning the title last year with James Stewart.
