FMX Best Trick contest to be included in Monster Energy Cup

Feld Motor Sports have announced that the inaugural Monster Energy Cup on October 15 at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium will now feature a Best Trick Freestyle Motocross Competition to back up the already unique supercross-motocross hybrid event.

The Best Trick Competition, presented by Dirt Shark, will be a one trick, go for broke situation, with a rider lineup including names such as Taka Higashino, Kyle Loza, and Aussies Jackson Strong, Mark Monea, and Cam Sinclair.

Loza, a three time X Games Best Trick gold medalist, is excited for the event, promising to throw down something no one has seen before.

“I’m always working on a few new tricks because it’s important for me to constantly be challenging myself, but the trick I’m bringing to Vegas is the only trick that breaks bones in the foam pit,” said Loza.

“It took me out on the day of x games by trying to take my thumb off so we have a score to settle.”

The Aussie contingent aren’t ready to let Loza have it though, with recent X Games Best Trick gold medalist Jackson Strong also ready to bust out a brand new combo for the event.

“I’m really pumped to be going up against the top freestyle riders at the Monster Energy Cup,” exclaimed Strong.

“It’s always fun to see everybody busting out their latest tricks or debuting new ones. The Monster Energy Cup Best Trick event is going to be the perfect environment for us to showcase our inventory. I have been working on a new combo trick and have been waiting for the right moment to reveal it.”

Monea, of Victoria, Australia, is the first and only rider to successfully land a frontflip 360, which he later tagged as the “Carry On.” Monea was formerly a mechanic for fellow Australian buddy and X Games gold medalist Cameron Sinclair before his FMX career ignited. After walking away empty handed when he crashed attempting his signature move, the Aussie will be looking for redemption at the Monster Energy Cup.

“Winning FMX at the Monster Energy Cup would be the biggest moment in my career for sure, especially because I am a Monster athlete,” said Monea.

“I love being a part of it and competing with the best in the world. It’s a huge buzz for me. I want to land the Carry On again.”
