Chad Reed and his TwoTwo Motorsports/Bel-Ray Racing team have vowed to use the lessons learnt from the horror run at Southwick on the weekend to fuel their run home in the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
After taking DNFs in both races due to mechanical issues in moto one, followed by more mechanical complications in moto two stemming from a first turn crash, Reed knows the championship is now a serious uphill battle, but is determined to fight to the end,
“We didn’t score a single point at Southwick so the odds are now against us with only two rounds left,” said Reed.
“Given our run this year it is simply bad luck that we would score two DNF’s at the business end of the season.
The Steel City round this weekend marks the penultimate round of the series and despite the huge points deficit, Reed is determined to fight to the last lap and round out the team’s debut outdoors season on a positive note.
“We built this team with the goal to go racing for the love of it and we won’t lose sight of that despite the challenges we’ve faced,” Reed added.
The Aussie superstar knows the depth of competition is greater than ever in the 450 class and making up points will not be an easy task, but is ready to finish the 2011 season and TwoTwo Motorsport’s first ever season on a good note.
“The second-half of the season has really mixed things up which can only be good for the fans following the sport.”
“There’s points and pride on the line – I’ll be doing my best to bring home the best result I can for the team and our supporters.”
Reed trails series leader, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto by 65 points and second placed Rockstar Makita Suzuki pilot Ryan Dungey by 57.
The Steel City National will be telecast live on SPEED TV Australia from 6.00-8.00am on Sunday morning with a replay to follow from 3.00-4.30pm.[caption
