Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Dean Wilson is hoping to build momentum following his first 250 Class win of the season at Unadilla last Saturday.
The Scottish rising star leads the championship standings by 25 points over teammate Blake Baggett with three rounds remaining, racing to a dominant 1-1 moto sweep in New York over the weekend.
βIt feels amazing to finally get my first win,β said Wilson. βI have been chasing for nine rounds now and I was thinking it might never come.
“One thing that seemed different today was that I told myself to have fun and enjoy myself out there. I was whipping it and trying to have the best time I could. It seemed to work.
“I felt good in both motos. Hopefully this confidence can carry over into the final three rounds.β
Wilson had spent time in the lead-up to Unadilla with Australia’s Chad Reed at his base in Florida, now on track to win his first major title in the U.S. if he can continue his consistent run.
Following nine rounds at 18 motos to date this season, Wilson has finished off the podium just twice – in moto two at High Point and in moto one at Washougal.
