After a disappointing day across the board for Monster Energy Kawasaki at the second to last round of the Rockstar Energy MX Nationals at Moree on the weekend, team manager Troy Carroll has promised that his team won’t go down without a fight this weekend at Coolum.
Moree saw problems struck for both of the team’s Pro Open contenders, with series leader Ferris succumbing to a round ending crash that resulted in a thumb and chest injury.
Scotsman Billy Mackenzie also had a day he would rather forget. Despite showing good form all day, a crash in moto two led to a 30th place race finish that lead to sixth overall for the day.
The bad run continued for the team’s Lites contender, American import Phil Nicoletti, who also suffered a second moto crash which resulted in a DNF and seventh overall.
“It was obviously a disappointing day for the whole team today,” Carroll commented.
“We just have to go to Coolum and win as many races as we can. We’ve been backed into a corner, watch us come out swinging!”
With Ferris now sitting third in the Pro Open championship and cleared to race at Coolum, and teammates Mackenzie and Nicoletti both sitting fourth in their respective classes, all three Kawasaki pilots echo the comments of their team manager and are ready to battle it out to the wire this weekend.
