Raceline Pirelli Suzuki’s Errol Willis hasn’t ruled out speculation that he could ride a two-stroke at Coolum’s Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals season finale this weekend.
The 18-year-old wrapped up the Pirelli Under 19s championship with a round to spare yesterday at Moree, scoring his second clean-sweep of the season in a dream weekend for the Wagga Wagga resident.
“It’s unreal – I said to the family at the start of the year that my biggest goal was to win the championship with one round to go,” Willis commented. “I’ve done everything that I set out to do this year and it’s all paid off.”
Speculation at the track following his title was that he’d switch to a 125cc two-stroke for Coolum, however approval from series organisers WEM to run the number one plate on his RM-Z250 for the finale will likely see him remain on his regular mount.
“We don’t know what we’re going to do yet,” he told MotoOnline.com.au. “We’ve got a 125 that I ride every week during the week, so it would be cool to step onto that, but I can run number one on my 250.
“I don’t really know, we could even find a 250 two-stroke. There are so many things we could do at the moment, but I’m really looking to run the number one on my 250F.”
Willis confirmed on Sunday afternoon that he now plans to step up to the Pro Lites category next season in 2012.
