Todd Waters has been in exceptional form upon return to racing in recent weeks.

North Queenslander Todd Waters says that he’s going to remain patient with his progress after scoring a brilliant MX Nationals Pro Open podium at Moree on Sunday.

The Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing rider missed the opening five rounds of 2011 with a wrist injury, however Sunday saw him race to a stunning overall podium with a consistent run of 5-5-4-3 finishes.

Delighted to be back on the podium Waters said he was frustrated that he was not quite back to his peak in terms of race fitness.

“I am really happy to be back on the podium,” Waters said. “It is a good sign that I am making progress.

“The bike was really good today and the recent suspension testing definitely showed benefits but I still felt that I was struggling with my race fitness when trying to run with frontrunners.

“I was off the bike for over three months so it was always going to be a battle to get to that peak race fitness coming into the season so late.

“I need to be patient and just keep chipping away at it,” he concluded.

Waters will enter next weekend’s season finale this weekend striving for a podium to finish out the season.
