Italian Alex Salvini has spoken of his joy after winning the E1 class during last week’s Australian Four Day Enduro in Mackay, Queensland.
Consistent riding from Salvini in the first three days of the event saw him well positioned to secure victory in his Australian competition debut.
Salvini’s performance was made all the more impressive after recovering from a heavy crash on day one of the event that had him trailing former World Enduro Champion Stefan Merriman by a mere 15 seconds.
Following day two, Salvini closed the gap to just three seconds, and then took over the lead on the third. Following the motocross finale, Salvini won by over 11 seconds.
“I am thrilled with the win and the Husqvarna TE 250 has been strong throughout the event,” Salvini said. “I think this event was more suited to the larger capacity bikes and to see my lap times competitive with those guys is a testament to how good the Husqvarna is.
“I would like to thank the team at Paul Feeney Group for their efforts in making this such a successful event for me and in particular Paul Feeney for his assistance in getting me to Australia for this fantastic event.”
PFG boss Paul Feeney said it was with great satisfaction that Salvini won the A4DE for Husqvarna.
“It was great to see Alex Salvini get the win considering the limited lead up he has had for the event,” Feeney concluded.
