KTM's Ken Roczen regained the red plate after winning the MX2 round in Spain on Sunday.

Red Bull KTM’s Antonio Cairoli and Ken Roczen have taken out the MX1 and MX2 classes of the Motocross World Championship during the Spanish round of season 2011.

Cairoli dominated yesterday’s qualifying race and obtained a 2-1 result on Sunday, edging out Yamaha’s David Philippaerts for the overall.

The third step of the podium was taken by Philippaerts’ teammate Steven Frossard thanks to his 1-9 result.

Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1’s world title leader Clement Desalle was fourth overall due to his 5-3 results.

Desalle made a mistake in the beginning of the first heat and had to ride without rear break during the whole heat as some green fence got stuck on his back wheel.

In the second moto, Desalle also made several mistakes but he gave all his best to finish third and keep the red plate on his Suzuki machine.

Rounding out the top five for the round was Cairoli’s teammate Max Nagl.

Desalle now leads the championship by just one single point from defending champion Cairoli, the Italian hitting his stride as the season gains momentum.

In the MX2 class, Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX2’s Roczen dominated both heats and obtained his third grand prix victory of the season.

Roczen again battled with CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Tommy Searle, who finished second overall with 2-2 finishes, while third overall was Monster Energy Yamaha’s Paulin thanks to his 4-3 result.

Former series leader Jeffrey Herlings struggled in Spain by his standards, securing fourth overall for the round and now trailing Roczen by six points in the title chase.
