Queenslander Dan Reardon says he’s content with his switch to KTM’s 450 SX-F despite finishing 10th overall at Coonabarabran’s Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals round.

Reardon made an 11th-hour decision to exchange the 350 SX-F that he had been competing on all season for the 450, resulting in little preparation with the JDR Motorex KTM team before yesterday’s sixth round.

The 25-year-old raced his 450 SX-F to 10th overall after a series of bad luck struck him in the opening motos, including a technical problem that saw him ruled out of moto one in the early stages. Reardon was credited DNF-10-7-8 results.

“I really enjoyed the 450 today and we are planning to continue testing on the bike next week,” Reardon explained. “I was able to lead for a few laps in moto three, which was good.

“Overall the bike was good and the track was fun. I’m just dealing with some niggling injuries that are really holding me back at the moment, but we’ll try to get them sorted and get the old me back on top.”

The highlight of Reardon’s day came in moto three, scoring the holeshot and leading a number of laps at the 2.9-kilometre Goanna Tracks Complex.

Reardon’s teammate Ryan Marmont will remain on the 350 when he makes his return from an ankle injury later this year.
