Chad Reed appointed a Member of the Order of Australia

Chad Reed has been appointed in the Order of Australia.

Australia’s greatest ever motocross export Chad Reed has been included in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list, appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the general division (AM) today.

According to the government’s website, Reed was honoured ‘for service to motorsports as a professional supercross motorcycle rider at national and international levels, and to the community’.

Reed, 29, is the second youngest recipient of the award and joins the likes of five-time 500cc Grand Prix World Champion Mick Doohan and legendary touring car racer Peter Brock in the honours list.

The news comes after a number of days filled with speculation after Reed announced via Twitter last week that he had massive news to share.

So far in season 2011, Reed currently leads the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship after three rounds, also finishing second in Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship.
