Frossard took his maiden MX1 win in front of a home crowd in France.

The 2011 GP of France will remain a special day in Steven Frossard’s memory for a long time to come, as he claimed his first ever MX1 round victory in front of a home crowd.

It has also served as a great confidence boost for the 23 year old Monster Energy Yamaha rider, as Frossard was able to both withstand hard pressure and move his way through the field to net his first win.

“This is my first year in MX1 and to win here at St Jean is something so good for me,” Frossard exclaimed.

“I want to thank my sponsors, my parents and everybody. It has been a really great day, especially because I havent ridden for three weeks.”

The first moto saw Frossard deal with constant pressure from both team mate David Phillippaerts and Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli to take the win.

Race two saw the young Frenchman move his way through the field to take second and the overall win.

“I was really focussed on my riding and for sure my goal was victory today. I was smooth and didnt take many risks,” commented Frossard.

‘It is good to be third in the championship but I am still counting the cost of those mistakes in Glen Helen. I have to concentrate more and get back what I lost.”

Frossard will look to build on this confidence boost and his current third place championship standing as the FIM World MX Championship moves to Portugal this weekend.
