Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Martin Davalos has taken the second Ricky Carmichael Hard Charger Award of the 2011 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship this past weekend at the Rockstar Energy Freestone National in Texas.
In the first race Davalos found himself on the ground. The Ecuadorian native remounted and crossed the line in 38th after the opening lap.
He was able to push through the intense heat and wind to cross the line in an impressive tenth place after the sixteen laps of moto one were completed, passing 28 riders along the way.
Davalos backed up his first moto charge to take seventh in moto two for sixth place overall, a season best effort.
He now sits eighth in the 250 Class standings, 46 points out of the lead heading into the third round of the season next weekend at High Point Raceway, where he will be presented with the award in front of his peers at the pre-race riders meeting.
