Australia’s Freestyle Motocross star Robbie Maddison experienced a slightly different form of two wheeled adrenaline rush recently, spending a day as a ‘Motoboy’ in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Estimated at numbering somewhere around 250 000, ‘Motoboy’ is the name given to the two wheeled transport couriers who snake their way in and out of the hectic Sao Paulo traffic to make their daily deliveries.

After spending a day with the Motoboys, Maddison was flabbergasted by they way they maneuvered their bikes through the city’s hustle and bustle.

“What these guys do with their indefinable bikes in this traffic is just indescribable,” said a visibly exhausted Maddison after an eventful day in traffic.

Maddo found himself instantly on the same wavelength with his new counterpart, Karlos Maxwell.

“Karlos does things with pure intuition and it’s the same for me with FMX,” he commented.

“The way Karlos seemed to be able to instinctively anticipate what the cars were going to do and was always ready with the right reaction reminded me a lot about what I’ve internalized on my bike.”

With the conclusion of his adventure and a new found respect for the city street daredevils, Maddison now moves to the capital Brasilia to contest round two of Red Bull X-Fighters, which will take place this Saturday May 28.
