Momentum on Mackenzie's side as injuries improve in Queensland

Mackenzie is finding his form again as he recovers from injury.

After being hampered by injuries in the early stages of this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Billy Mackenzie showed he is finding his form again after taking second overall in the Pro Open category at round five of the series.

Mackenzie put his GP experience to work on the demanding, rain soaked circuit, finishing the day with 4-1-3-1 race finishes, showing that the signs of injury that plagued him at rounds two and three are now fading.

“I’m definitely happy with how I rode in all the motos. I felt like I was charging and pushing that little bit extra,” Mackenzie commented.

The second place performance provides Mackenzie with much needed momentum as the series hits its halfway point, but more importantly see him close the points gap between himself and championship leader, Monster Energy Kawasaki team mate Dean Ferris.

“I gained good points on Dean for the Championship overall. I’m a bit unhappy with the 3rd and 4th places but I’ll work on some things and come out strong at the next round, stated Mackenzie.

“I’m happy with the day’s racing. After the injury affected rounds, the results are coming.”

Mackenzie now trails Ferris by nine points as the series moves to round six at Coonabarabran’s Goanna Tracks complex next month.
