Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Dean Ferris has put himself on the Pro Open podium for the fourth time in just five races this year at the Toowoomba round of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals series.
After posting the fastest qualifying time, Ferris placed second in the first moto, and ran fourth in the second after receiving a rock to the eye, requiring some post-race medical attention from the Racesafe team.
Ferris was able to soldier on with limited vision in the next two races, taking a fourth and a second respectively, to finish third overall on the day and maintain his series lead.
“This is my fourth podium in a row so it’s a great accomplishment. It was a tough day though, the ruts were super deep, it was pretty much survival. One little mistake and you’d run off the track,” Ferris commented.
Ferris was understandably happy to be able to push through the day’s adversity and come away holding onto the coveted red plate.
“I’m pumped to have the Red-plate still,” he stated.
“All in all it was a good day. Billy (team mate Billy Mackenzie) and I were on the podium and together we extended the lead in the series which is great.”
Ferris now holds a nine point lead in the series over Mackenzie heading into round six at Coonabarabran next month.
