Team Serco Yoshimura Yamaha’s Kirk Gibbs comes into round five of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals this weekend with all the confidence one could ask for, after sweeping all four Pro Lites races at the Murray Bridge round two weeks prior.
However, he acknowledges that it is a long season, and if he is to catch current points leader Matt Moss and win the championship, he must not rest on his laurels after one good round.
“I am not going to win a 36 race championship on the back of one round so it is vitally important that I keep the momentum going and continue to put in 100%,” stated Gibbs.
Gibbs has been training hard in the schedule’s two week break, looking to keep his current momentum flowing at Echo Valley this weekend.
“Since Murray Bridge I have stuck religiously to my training program and continued to work hard on my starts as they are the most important aspect of the race,” Gibbs said.
After his maximum 100 point haul at Murray Bridge, Gibbs now trails Moss by 37 points, as the series hits the halfway point in Toowoomba.
