Serco Yoshimura Yamaha’s Jake Moss says his podium finish at Murray Bridge in the Pro Lites class of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals has boosted his confidence heading into Toowoomba next weekend.
Moss finished a solid second overall behind teammate Kirk Gibbs in South Australia, the break between rounds three and four paying dividends for the talented 22-year-old twin brother of series leader Matt Moss.
“The day started off alright, I was able to qualify fifth and after having four weeks off [from racing] I’m definitely riding a little bit better,” Jake reflected on Murray Bridge.
“I made a couple of mistakes in the first motos, but then I nearly got a holeshot in the third one and was able to lead for a little bit – got a little bit nervous and Kirk ended up going past me.
“In the fourth one I charged through, think I was about eighth or something and ended up getting into fourth. That’s pretty good around this track because it’s pretty one-lined.”
The result saw Moss a satisfied rider on Sunday afternoon, now hopeful he can put his momentum to good use in Queensland on 22 May at round five.
“I’m just pumped with the overall result, you know, get a little bit of money in the bank and get a little bit of confidence built up,” he added. “We’ll try to go into Toowoomba and do some more damage.”
The result saw Moss climb to 13th in the series despite missing the opening round and regaining fitness from a shoulder injury sustained in Germany before the season commenced.
