Australia’s Chad Reed has been spotted in action aboard a factory Honda on Wednesday at Milestone Raceway in Southern California.
Fresh off a stunning AMA Supercross season where he finished second with his privateer TwoTwo Motorsports effort, Reed has this week started riding outdoors on a works American Honda CRF450R.
While Reed enjoyed support from Pro Circuit during the Supercross season, the outdoor bike he’s been riding features a Yoshimura exhaust system and factory Showa suspension.
Interestingly, Reed’s TwoTwo Motorsports logo is visible on the fork guard, causing massive amounts of speculation whether Reed will be riding for American Honda or remaining in his own TwoTwo Motorsports team with additional factory support this summer in the U.S.
In an interview with Australian television program RPM on ONE HD this week, Reed revealed that the bike he was riding in the final two rounds of Supercross was in fact a full on factory bike.
“[American Honda] pretty much gave me their bike, it was one of their full blown factory bikes, and I wouldn’t say that it was a whole lot different or better,” Reed admitted.
“It just did little things better here and there, and the weight was quite a big saving, which was nice riding 20 laps – made it a little easier, a little more comfortable.
“That was kind of the direction we went for the last two and it gave me the best shot possible to win a championship.
“We earned their respect and they were a little more willing to help me than what they were at the beginning of the year.”
No official announcement has been made on Reed’s outdoor plans.

The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship will commence at Hangtown in Northern California on 21 May.
