Serco Yoshimura Yamaha’s Kirk Gibbs is focused on further closing the gap in the championship to Matt Moss after taking a clean-sweep during his home round of the Pro Lites MX Nationals at Murray Bridge on Sunday.

Gibbs, a former South Australian now based in Queensland, produced a career defining ride to take pole position in qualifying and then go on to dominate the days racing in the Pro Lites category winning all four races contested for a perfect 100 points.

The Serco Yoshimura Yamaha rounded the first turn in a top three position and simply motored past his competitors to take control of every race in the early stages and race off into the distance.

It was a clinical display and a well deserved reward for the hard work Gibbs and the Serco team have put in over recent weeks.

The huge points haul also enabled Gibbs to more than half the points lead to Matt Moss and bring the Lites championship alive.

“I have been saying for a while that if I can get a start then I think I have what it takes to win races,” Gibbs said. “Today I proved to myself that I can do it and the countless amounts of starts that I have practiced over the past month really paid off today.

“We started round four 85 points behind Matt Moss and in one day we have bought that back to 37points. It’s still a big lead but with five rounds left it is something I can chip away at.”

“A huge thanks must go to my team and mechanic, Peter, for their hard work. I also want to thank my family and friends for coming out and supporting me today and I could hear them cheer every lap I rode past,” he concluded.
