The Woodstock Bourbon Australian Superbike Championship will feature Superpole for the first time ever at Queensland Raceway’s double-header round next weekend, marking the qualifying format for Sunday’s racing in the premier Superbike class.
While qualifying will be run as per usual with a pair of 30-minute sessions on Friday for Saturday’s round 3a of the series, Sunday’s 3b round will implement a shortened qualifying format that will take place directly following Saturday’s races.
According to the final instructions for the event, the top eight qualifiers from Friday qualifying will be given one Superpole lap each to obtain their start position for round 3b.
All riders outside of the top eight will be given a dramatic eight minute session on the Saturday afternoon prior to Superpole to obtain their starting position for Sunday’s round 3b race schedule.
Other classes included in the Queensland round will also undergo regular qualifying for Saturday’s racing before a single qualifying session (15 minutes for Supersport and 10 minutes for the remaining classes) on Saturday afternoon will decide the grid for Sunday’s racing.
