Team Cool Air Kawasaki’s Daniel McCoy has been sidelined for the opening three rounds of the 2009 Australian MX Nationals, and news has come through that he’ll also miss this weekend’s Mackay round in North Queensland.
McCoy began the season racing in the USA before returning right before the MX Nationals started, but a testing crash has forced him out of the opening races of the season after he suffered a fractured sternum.
With the sternum healed, McCoy’s return has been delayed due to wrist complications as specialists determine the cause of pain in the joint which is believed to be stretched ligaments.
If that is the case once the MRI reports are complete, McCoy expects to have screws inserted to assist the injury in a bid to be fit for Super X, which is a devastating blow to his season.
