Advanti Motorex Coastal KTM Team rider Robbie Marshall finished 19th overall at Appin’s second round of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals, despite rushing from the Nitro Circus tour on the Gold Coast on Snnday morning.
Marhsall made it from Queensland to Sydney just in time for Pro Open qualifying, and he’s content with his result despite not riding since the season opener as he heals from a broken collarbone.
“Considering I haven’t ridden any motocross since the first round and have been busy riding freestyle on the Nitro Tour, I felt that I rode well,” fan favourite Marshall said.
“I’m looking forward to progressing as the series goes on, with time on the bike and better starts I can definitely run inside the top 10. I’m close to being back to 100 percent healthy with my collarbone and shoulder getting stronger each week.
“So everything can only get better from here.”
Marshall now sits in 19th position in the championship standings.
Rookie teammate, former Junior World Champion Jay Wilson, had another weekend he would rather forget, finishing 16th overall in the Under 19s.
“I felt good coming into the second round as I had let the pressure effect me in round one,” Wilson explained. “I tried to relax and have some fun in round two. I rode really well on the weekend it’s just a shame my results didn’t show this.
“After crashing in qualifying and then having two bad starts in the first motos, and another crash in moto two, I had my work cut out for me. I just need to work on my starts as I felt this is what failed me the most this round.”
After round two, Wilson is now running 16th in the Under 19s championship.
