GYTR Rockstar Energy Yamaha’s Shaun Redhead admits his third place finish in the Under 19s category of the Rockstar Energy MX Nationals season opener has him wanting more.
Redhead gained a lot of confidence from that result and quickly put it into practice at a local Queensland event last week where he again raced well.
With round two of the series set for Appin this weekend, Redhead is also aware that this championship has just started and there is still a lot of improvement in him if he is to win this year’s title.
“It was nice to get a reward for the hard work I put in before Broadford and get up on the podium,” he commented.
“It has also made me realise that this is what I love doing and want to keep doing it as it sure beats working a real job.”
“Getting third was good, but now I want more!”
The opening round of the Under 19s category was won by Redhead’s teammate Luke Arbon, who is also confident of a strong showing come Sunday.
“Round one was good to me and I was able to get a great result but you have to move on pretty quickly and keep working hard for the following week otherwise the rest of the pack can pass you by in a hurry,” said Arbon.
“So, for me I took a day or two off after Broadford and then it was right back into it again as we still have eight rounds and 32 races to go before this is over and the hard work has only really just begun.”
