San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart avoided injury in the weekend’s Jacksonville round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, series despite having to sit out the remainder of the main event.
Stewart crashed heavily in the first rhythm section on the opening lap of the 20-lap main, with initial rumours circulating that he’d suffered a pelvis injury in the fall.
It’s since been confirmed by Stewart’s team on Twitter that he avoided any major injury in the scare, however it was a costly crash after series leader Ryan Villopoto failed to make the main event.
Heading into Toronto this weekend where it’s expected Stewart will return to action, he now sits fourth in the series, 25 points in arrears of Villopoto.
