TwoTwo Motorsports’ Chad Reed is determined to bounce back from an admittedly disappointing performance last week to factor at the front of the pack in Jacksonville when the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series continues on Saturday night.
His own strongest critic, the Australian was quick to point out that his Indy result was below par, despite finishing on the podium.
“We’ve had a few days to reflect now on what went wrong and why I was unable to capitalise in the main, especially after getting the holeshot,” said Reed.
“The team shares my passion and could see I was unhappy with the result, so we’ve gotten together this week and worked towards a solution.
“One of the biggest challenges we face is coming to each track as a new team – if our initial direction isn’t right then there is little to fall back on.
“That said, there’s no excuse. We’ve shown we can win and be on the podium regularly so it’s up to me to step it up, grab every opportunity I see and race to my potential.
“I’m taking it race by race, and there is still lots of racing to go in this championship.”
Reed heads to EverBank Field in Jacksonville in third place, three points off James Stewart and 29 points off leader Ryan Villopoto.
He will be gunning for his 110th career Supercross podium this weekend, and can improve on an average finishing result of 3.6 if he puts his TwoTwo Motorsports machine in the top three once more.
