Team Suzuki’s Brodie Waters has taken victory in an enthralling second Supersport bout at Symmons Plains in Tasmania this afternoon.
A titanic five-rider fight for the lead saw a controversial incident between rookie Nick Waters (Waters Racing/Sunstate Racing Suzuki) and veteran Kevin Curtain (Yamaha Racing Team) on the penultimate corner of the final lap, Curtain going down as Waters raced on to his first race podium.
Following the podium presentations, Curtain confronted Nick Waters in a dramatic warning from the former World Supersport number two.
Curtain said the pair touched, Waters said they didn’t. Yamaha lodged a protest afterwards, the final result still being investigated.
Brodie Waters was able to bounce back from his disappointments of race one where he took down brother Nick, winning by 0.059 ahead of race one and overall winner Christan Casella (AARK Racing Triumph).
Nick Waters crossed the line third while Curtain’s teammate Rick Olson was fourth, the top four all crossing the line within a second of each other.
The result saw Casella clinch the overall for the round from Brodie Waters and Olson.
