American Honda’s Trey Canard picked up the first Monster Energy AMA Supercross class win of his career at Houston last Saturday night, and he’s now focussed on maintaining that form to close out the series.
Canard was gifted the lead in Texas when fellow Honda rider Kevin Windham crashed out on lap 10, fending off defending champion Ryan Dungey in the closing stages of the race to claim his first ever premier class victory.
Now, Canard says he’s shooting for podium positions to complete his year, content with his first win and hoping to improve on his consistency in what is his first full season on the 450.
“It was awesome to get my first-ever Supercross class win last weekend and to put American Honda Racing on top for the first time this season,” said Canard.
“I want to build on this momentum going forward and my goal is to finish on the podium every weekend.”
With his win last weekend, Canard has now moved into third position overall in the championship behind leaders Ryan Villopoto and James Stewart.
