Red Bull KTM has confirmed that it will field its American squad in the U.S. GP at Glen Helen in California come the race weekend on 15 May.
The U.S. GP was reintroduced last season to the Motocross World Championship calendar, and this year will see the American team of Andrew Short, Mike Alessi and current MX2 World Champion Marvin Musquin – now based in the States – on the gates.
“Of course the U.S. GP at Glenn Helen is a great addition to the world championship calendar and one that we expect to be a highlight in 2011,” KTM Racing Department boss Pit Beirer commented.
“We will be there with a very strong lineup of our top riders because the event helps to reflect to increasingly global aspect of the championships and because the USA plays a pivotal role in our sport.”
The American team, which is managed by former world champion Roger DeCoster, will join KTM’s world championship regulars Antonio Cairoli, Max Nagl, Ken Roczen, Jeffrey Herlings and Jeremy van Horebeek.
Roczen has recently impressed in a series of guest rides with the U.S. team during the AMA Supercross series, earning a Lites podium at Anaheim II before going on to take seventh on debut in the 450 class aboard KTM’s 350 SX-F.
