Following his second AMA Supercross podium in a row, Australia’s Chad Reed says that his riding is now the main priority when it comes to building his TwoTwo Motorsports team.
Reed raced to a strong third overall on Saturday night at Anaheim 2 in California behind James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto, and from now on he says his focus is on riding rather than the off-track organisation of the team.
“With only nine weeks lead time to establish my own team before the start of this championship we have had no choice but to work in a strict order of priorities,” Reed explained.
“First it was staff and infrastructure then it was about the bike and now all eyes are on me. Up until now my time and attention has been pulled in so many different directions but from here on it is all about the riding – doing motos and sharpening up my game as a rider.
“I would like to thank Pro Circuit, American Honda and Showa we couldn’t have made the gains we have without their assistance,” he said.
Reed has now moved into third in the championship standings behind Stewart and Villopoto, now aiming to stick with them as the season progresses.
“We have just finished round five and there is a long way to go. I need to stay in touch with the championship leaders and be ready to jump come crunch time,” Reed continued.
The A2 round marked the PINK event of the season in a bid to raise awareness for breast cancer.
“I would also like to thank everyone who helped us tonight to show our support for breast cancer awareness,” Reed said.
“We put the plans in place a while ago and Fox, Shift, Alpinestars and Factory Effex pulled out all stops to ensure everything was ready for tonight.”
Reeds one off riding gear from tonight will be auctioned off with all monies going to support Breast Cancer Research in Australia whilst Factory Effex will be producing a limited number of the pink graphic kits in support of the Susan G Koman Foundation.
