GAS Honda Racing have confirmed Craig Coxhell and Cole Odendaal for the 2011 Australian Superbike Championship in an expanded two-man team.
2003 ASBK champion Coxhell is no stranger to GAS Honda machinery, taking out the Superbike Privateer Cup aboard the CBR1000RR in 2009.
Coxhell will take over the Demolition Plus-backed machine, which was last year campaigned by Wayne Maxwell.
For Coxhell, the move also marks a return to the Superbike ranks after spending much of the year in Superstock during 2010 aboard a privateer BMW S 1000 RR.
“The guys from Demolition Plus GAS Honda have proven they can build competitive bikes, so I’m excited for the season to start,” said the experienced Victorian.
“It’s a shame not to continue with the BMW, but it comes down to money and we just couldn’t afford it again in our own team.”
Queensland up and comer Odendaal had a guest ride on a GAS Honda FX machine at the recent Formula Xtreme Summer Series event at Winton, now confirmed full time with the team for this season.
Odendaal will be supported by the NSW Compensation Lawyers, a boutique Sydney law firm based in Liverpool that specialise in compensation law.
The team will debut at Phillip Island at the official ASBK test day on 15 February leading up to round one of the ASBK alongside the World Superbikes on 25-27 February.
