WONKA WINS THIRD KAMFARI MUD RACE

Motorex KTM Off-Road press release:

Motorex KTM Off-Road Team Manager, and Racer, Brad Williscroft has taken out his third consecutive win at the 2009 Kamfari Mud Race.

Racing the KTM 450 EXC-R, Williscroft competed for just over five hours, lapping up to second place.

“This is actually my fourth win of Kamfari, but my third consecutive win,” said Williscroft.   “I first won this event in 2004, and then again in 07, 08 and 09.
“I got a good start in this year’s event, but let a few others lead for awhile because the pink ribbons in the bush section were all that paved the way, so once I felt familiar with the ground, I settled in to a good pace.  I took the lead by the by the end of the first lap, and didn’t look back from there.

“This year’s Kamfari took place at a totally new location within an old prison farm, and it attracted a lot more crowds.  We raced through deserted prison buildings on the course, and then there was your typical single lane bush section, a pine forest, and your usual swampy boggy mud sections that completed a 12 kilometre course.

“The KTM 450 EXC-R handled the conditions easily, even through the really deep water sections where several other competitors drowned their bike, and had to pull out of the race. There were around 70 riders who started the event, and only half of those finished.

“It was great to see so many locals get out and support this year’s event, it was a real community focused event, and I’d like to thank Garth at NT Motorcycles for supplying me a KTM 450 EXC-R, plus all the other locals that helped me out with hospitality.”

Brad Williscroft will now head to Alice Springs to meet up with fellow Motorex KTM Racer, Ben Grabham where they will embark on some testing for the 2009 Finke Desert Race.   The duo will next compete at round 3-4 of the Australian Off-Road Championship in two weeks, where they will be joined by 250-F team mate, Ben Kearney.
