Australians Dan Reardon and Ryan Marmont will contest the opening rounds of the AMA Supercross Championship in the United States for the all-new JDR Motorsports KTM team.
Reardon and Marmont have signed for the JDR Motorsports KTM team to contest the 2011 season in Australia, however it’s been revealed that the pair will race in the first few rounds of the U.S. series to kick off their year.
Marmont, who finished third in the Super X Lites class this season, is scheduled to ride the opening two rounds of the AMA West Coast Lites Supercross Championship at Anaheim and Phoenix, excited to make his AMA debut.
“When I got the call from Jay and Derek Rynenberg and they told me that they were going to let me do the first couple of rounds in the AMA I was stoked,” Marmont told MotoOnline.com.au. “They said I can ride the bike that I raced in Super X, so it will be something that I’m used to.
“It will be stress-free so I’m kind of treating it so I have some fun and go do the best that I can. I’m looking forward to it. I had the opportunity last year but I hurt myself and didn’t get to go. This year I’m excited to be at Anaheim 1 and it’s a dream.
“I’ve always had the dream of going to race in America so it’s going to be awesome to finally go and do that.”
Marmont will make the trip over to the States on Wednesday in preparation for the season opener on 8 January.
Queenslander Reardon will make his debut with JDR and KTM in the U.S, campaigning a 350 SX-F alongside Tye Simmonds in the 450 Class.
Reardon travelled to the U.S. last week and is set to contest the opening five rounds of the AMA Supercross series before turning his attention to the Rockstar Energy MX Nationals in Australia with JDR Motorsports KTM’s Aussie outfit.
Simmonds made the trip over to America last week and the 18-year-old will ride the entire 450 season, while PJ Larsen will ride East Coast Lites for the team.
