Organisers of the Bel-Ray 6 Hour have announced that the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) will be the official charity partner for the event in 2010, to be held at Phillip Island in Victoria on 3-5 December.

Promoter James Spence is proud of the partnership with the charity and his personal association with the RFDS goes back years.

“The RFDS exemplify all that is good about Australia – a long tradition of helping people in rural and regional areas and they provide the best care in what can be trying circumstances,” Spence commented. “We’re proud to have them aboard.

“My great uncle is none other than the founder of the RFDS, Rev. Dr John Flynn. So for me personally, the RFDS is something close to my heart.”

Scott Chapman, CEO of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, is pleased to be involved with The 6 Hour.

“The Royal Flying Doctor Service is proud to be the charity partner of The 6 Hour endurance race,” Chapman said. “Endurance is key to our team of pilots, nurses and doctors who provide medical assistance around the clock, seven days a week to people living, working and travelling in rural and remote Australia.

“The 6 Hour event is not just an opportunity for us to raise much needed funds but to raise the awareness of our work to those who may one day need our services.”

As well as fundraising at The 6 Hour, the RFDS will also offer patrons the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win Casey Stoner’s signed Alfa Romeo (valued at $95,000) at the event. This amazing prize will be on display all weekend at The 6 Hour.

Tickets for the raffle are $20 with all proceeds going to the RFDS.
