Defending Lites class Super X, Australasian Supercross Champion, Matt Moss has acknowledged that New Zealand’s Dunedin round of the 2010 series was a positive night for his title chances.
Moss has been engaged in a thrilling two-way fight for the title with American PJ Larsen so far this season, the pair separated by just four points as the series enters the final two rounds.
“We made five points up in the championship, now only four behind now, so it’s been a great night here in Dunedin,” Rockstar Motul Suzuki’s Moss told MotoOnline.com.au in our Dunedin Race Reflection film.
“My starts last year were good but this year they’ve let me down a little bit. Hopefully we can carry on from here because I got two great starts and we changed a lot during the week.”
Moss wrapped up his second title last year at Parramatta Stadium, and says he can’t wait to get back there for Sydney’s penultimate round this weekend.
“Parramatta, I always ride good there, so let’s hope we can get back that red plate and carry it through to Brisbane,” Moss added.
Twin brother Jake scored his second podium in a row with runner-up in the Open class for Suzuki, now sitting third in the title chase.
“That was tough,” Jake reflected. “I just pushed hard and tried not to make any mistakes.”
Jay Foreman, Rockstar Motul Suzuki team manager, was happy with the results in tough conditions to round on the NZ leg of the 2010 series.
“I’m really happy with the way the guys applied themselves in very difficult conditions,” Foreman commented. “It would have been easy to throw a championship away this weekend.
“Both guys knew that they had to be consistent and mistake free and we came away with two great results.”
