Cougar Bourbon Honda Racing’s Bryan Staring remains focussed on the job at hand despite wet conditions greeting Australian Superbike Championship riders at Symmons Plains in Tasmania for the season finale this morning.

Staring was a confident second fastest in this morning’s wet warm-up session directly behind title challenger Wayne Maxwell, and he’s committed to getting the job done in what could be the biggest day in his illustrious career.

“It’s got the possibility to be a big day, but we’ve still got 16 laps to go just yet,” Staring told MotoOnline.com.au in the Cougar Bourbon Honda semi this morning.

“My plan doesn’t change – it will remain the same as always for today. I just need to concentrate on the job, ride the bike how I can, and nothing else will really matter too much.

“As long as I do a good job then all the other pieces will fall into place. The Cougar Bourbon Honda team is working hard, they’ve done their job, so now I’ll try my best to finish mine. We’ll take it as it comes.”

A Superbike returnee and 2009 Australian Supersport Champion, Staring believes he has the experience in the wet on the Superbike to achieve a good result in today’s final race of the year.

“We had a race in Darwin in the wet and a couple of sessions at the GP a few weeks ago, so we gained heaps of knowledge there and I’m actually looking forward to having another go out there in the wet and cold conditions.”

Entering this afternoon’s season finale, set to be broadcast on Channel 7 at 2.00-2.30pm AEST, Staring maintains a 19.5-point lead heading into the race after extending his lead by one over Maxwell yesterday.

With just 15 Superbike entries for the round, Staring simply has to circulate and finish if he is to take the title – the 6 points for 15th place proving enough to clinch the crown.
