American Josh Hansen believes he has what it takes to continue his consistent effort throughout Super X.

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Josh Hansen says that he’s not getting ahead of himself despite getting off to an epic start 2010 Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship.

Hansen scored second on debut at Newcastle and backed that result up with a third in Canberra last Saturday night, giving him a 20-point buffer in the series over CDR Rockstar Yamaha’s Jay Marmont, who sits in fourth place overall as the next best rider to be contesting the entire series.

“A lot of these guys I’m racing against are guys that I race against back home,” Hansen commented on the large AMA contingent contesting the opening rounds.

“A lot of these Australian guys have raced back in America and do good, and with the short races you really can’t count anybody out. Being American or being Australian, whoever, the shorter format keeps the racing tight and people on their toes so I’m not one to count anybody out. Each race I just need to go out and attack for the win.”

Commenting on his Canberra podium and maintaining a 100 percent strike rate of podium finishes, Hansen says consistency is the key if he is to take out the title.

“I’m very happy. It’s all about staying consistent and I think I did a good job of staying consistent tonight,” he commented. “I just want to keep upping my intensity each weekend. I think Kevin [Windham] just rode better than me tonight and that’s the way it ended. I’d like to win, but the championship is the bigger picture in the end.”
