JDR Motorex KTM’s Tye Simmonds says he’ll come out swinging when the second round of the 2010 Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, takes place at Canberra Stadium in the ACT tonight.
The talented 18-year-old posted a sixth place at last weekend’s season opener in Newcastle, however he believes he should be vying for podium positions and that’s exactly what he’ll be hoping for come race time tonight.
“I’m very, very upset with my results. My fitness was fine, but I rode tight and defensive, so I suffered from arm-pump,” Simmonds explained. “We had great preparation and the bike’s unreal, so it’s just upsetting. We’ve gone back to work on a few things though, trying to get it sorted for Canberra.
“I want to be on the podium, that’s my goal for this year – I should be up front with the American guys banging bars. We’ll come out this week swinging, for sure.”
Simmonds is riding the team’s factory 350SX-F alongside American Mike Alessi, the pair making the bike’s top level Supercross debut last weekend in Newcastle.
