Australia’s Jed Metcher has taken a surprise win on debut in the FIM Cup Superstock 600 Series race at Magny-Cours in France this afternoon.
The Victorian, who had earlier contested the IDM series in Germany this season, joined the MTM Yamaha team for the Superstock 600 season finale and scored an upset win in his first race for the team.
Metcher set a new lap record in the Superstock 600 championship race on his way to victory after a collision between already crowned champion Jeremy Guarnoni (MRS Racing Yamaha) and Stephane Egea (Team ASPI Yamaha) near the end saw them crash out.
Berardino Lombardi (Martini Corse Yamaha) was an unexpected second and Tony Covena (Econocom Yamaha) third.
