FMX: New direction for Crusty Demons live shows revealed

A dynamic new vision for the Crusty Demons live shows was revealed today, with the Thirst 4 Destruction national tour to be directed, produced and promoted by some of the most celebrated names in the entertainment industry.

Emmy Award-winning duo David Atkins and Ignatius Jones will team up with Paul Dainty and Dainty Consolidated Entertainment to pen a new and exciting chapter in the 16-year history of the action sports brand.

Touring nationally in October and November, Crusty Demons Thirst 4 Destruction presented by Woodstock Bourbon will introduce a host of new and exciting talent, headlined by modern-day Evel Knievel and X Games medallist Robbie Maddison.

Fans will be the first to catch a glimpse of Australia’s first female freestyle motocross rider, Emma McFerran, as well as pint-sized sensation, six-year-old Jasyn Roney.

This talented trio joins a host of emerging and established riders eager to take the tour to new, unvisited heights.

Having recently completed the two biggest shows of 2010, the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and World Expo in Shanghai, Atkins and Jones are gearing up for a third outing and are thrilled to be working with the Crusty brand.

“We know a bit about arena shows, and we’re going to use everything we’ve learnt to bring our brand of epic theatre to the bad, bad lunacy that is Crusty. We’re going to take it to a new place, a truly wild and crazy place,” said Jones.

“We want to enhance what’s already the gnarliest, edgiest FMX show on the planet with some huge new technical effects, a huge new screen, totally demented and brand-new pyrotechnic craziness.

“The tour will showcase feats not before seen – Robbie Maddison’s going to do a ceiling drop in, Kain Saul’s going to back-flip a Harley, and ‘Jacko’ Strong will do the first-ever indoor front-flip. We’re also introducing some new talent in Emma McFerran and young Jasyn Roney.

“We’re going to set world records with our flip-trains, and trick-trains and FMX cross-overs, not to mention the craziness you get when you put guys like Seth Enslow, Mike Metzger, Matt Schubring and Beau Bamburg all under one roof – not to mention that mad kamikaze, Taka, and good ol’ everlovin’ Bubba!

“We’re going back to dirt, and we’re going to hit that dirt and hammer it hard,” Jones stated.

Paul Dainty, CEO of Dainty Consolidated Entertainment, said the appointment of Atkins and Jones was a significant step towards the vision of re-igniting the Crusty Demons live shows.

“There are none more capable than David Atkins and Ignatius Jones when it comes to the creation of truly incredible shows, exemplified by their recent work at the Winter Olympics and World Expo,” said Dainty.

“The Crusty Demons shows are driven by adrenaline and emotion. We believe that David and Ignatius have the know-how to harness the raw energy of these action sports heroes and take the show to an unprecedented level.

“The tour will also uncover some brand new talent, introducing Emma McFerran and Jasyn Roney, who are sure to amaze. The duo join some of actions sports biggest names in Robbie Maddison, Mike Metzger, Mike Mason and many more. It’s a formula for an arena spectacular of epic proportions,” Dainty concluded.

McFerran, 22, said joining the Crusty Demons was the opportunity of a lifetime and wasn’t intimidated at being the only female on the tour.

“I’ve been around bikes all my life, I’ve raced them for over 10 years and have always supported my brother at his shows and on tour,” said McFerran.

“It was about a year ago that I decided to try FMX for myself. It took a lot of practice and I’ve had plenty of spills along the way but I’ve found that’s the best way to learn. Being the first Australian female FMX rider and having the chance to join the Crusty Demons has been amazing and I’m really looking forward to the tour next month.

“I’ll be riding alongside Maddo and the godfather of FMX, Mike Metzger, which will be very special. These are the guys that have shaped and continue to shape the sport – the Thirst 4 Destruction tour is going to be incredible for all involved.”

Maddison, who recently signed a multi-year deal with the Crusty Demons, said the appointment of Atkins and Jones would help to create a unique spectacle for fans and was excited to be involved in the planning stages.

“To be working with the likes of David and Ignatius on the show plan is an amazing opportunity, I’m fortunate enough to have plenty of creative input and between us and the team at DCE I am certain we can create something incredible.

“There will be plenty of new stunts on show and we’re currently working on one that has never been attempted before where I will drop in from a platform suspended above the arena.

“The Thirst 4 Destruction Tour will take Crusty to new heights. The rider lineup is exciting – we’ve got both new and established riders from all across the world taking part,” he added. The full rider line-up will be announced over the coming weeks.
