Australia has taken third overall in the Nations Trophy at 2010 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship, which was held in Dardon-Geugnon, France, over the weekend.

Consistent performances by riders across all three classes enabled Australia to secure third place in the overall Nations Trophy at the event behind the USA and Italy, and ahead of a host of European countries such as the Czech Republic, The Netherlands and host nation France. 

Queensland rider Wilson Todd achieved the best result for any Australian at the weekend, finishing on the podium by picking up third place overall in the 65cc class in what was a stunning result. 

Todd secured the result by finishing third in race one and fourth in race two, while his Aussie teammate Mitchell Evans finished sixth overall.

In the 125cc class, New South Wales’ Errol Willis finished in 13th position, one place ahead of Tasmanian Matthew Phillips.

Australia was represented by two Queenslanders in the 85cc class, with Scott Mann coming in ninth overall ahead of Joel Dinsdale who finished 14th.

The results achieved this weekend vindicate Motorcycling Australia’s efforts to continue its strong support of junior racing, and follow on from the success at the 2009 Championship where Australia captured the Nations Trophy as well as three individual podium finishes.
