Round 11 of the Motocross World Championship started with Italian Antonio Cairoli obtaining his third Lovemytime MX1 Pole Position Award of the season in the challenging sandy track of Lommel in Belgium while Ken Roczen won the MX2 qualifying race for his fourth time to become the rider with the most pole positions in the championship.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing MX1’s Cairoli was first on Saturday’s qualifying race and obtained his third Lovemytime MX1 Pole Position Award of the season being in France the last one he got. The Italian could only be seventh by the end of the first lap but he achieved in climbing up positions until reaching the top.

Cairoli admitted that he made a mistake while removing his tear-off and it caused him a small crash. However, he took advantage of leading riders’ tiredness and crossed the finish line in first position.

Second classified was LS Motors Honda’s Tanel Leok, who did a consistent race and rode among the top three along Saturday’s qualifying race. After an excellent start he was third at the end of the starting lap and he clinched the lead for a couple of laps but he could not stand Cairoli’s pressure and could only be second.

Rockstar Teka Suzuki World MX1’s Steve Ramon was third and will be able to choose a good gate for tomorrow’s race to fulfil his fans expectative and try to take his maiden home GP victory.

Fourth was Russian Eugene Bobryshev who started leading the race but a big crash made him lose his lead with four laps to go. The CAS Honda man is confident enough to do a good performance on tomorrow’s race.

Other Rockstar Teka Suzuki World MX1 rider Clement Desalle completed the top five and also expects to provide good riding to his audience. Rui Gonçalves was a positive sixth ahead of David Philippaerts, Max Nagl and Kiwi Josh Coppins.

Yamaha Monster Energy Ricci’s Ken De Dyker, who won last year’s GP of Limburg, finished 11th right after his Belgian compatriot Kevin Strijbos, who took the holeshot but could not keep the rhythm of his rivals.

Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2’s Ken Roczen achieved his fourth pole position of the season and became the rider with the most Lovemytime MX2 Pole Position Awards of the FIM Motocross World Championship.

Although he left the holeshot on hands of Frenchman Marvin Musquin, he took the lead already on lap two and increased the rhythm in such a way that the gap with the second classified Herlings by the end of the race was of almost nine seconds.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing MX2’s Jeffrey Herlings started behind his teammates Musquin and Shaun Simpson but performed such an excellent race that he gained four positions and finished second.

The sand specialist is expected to do a good performance in Lommel after winning his first GP in Valkenswaard, track where the sand and deep roots are also the protagonists.

Third position was for Red Bull KTM Factory MX2’s Simpson, who seemed to be recovered from the blood deficiencies that were detected some weeks ago.

Fourth was his teammate and series leader Musquin, who in spite of riding second during the first half of the races, made several mistakes and had to settle down for such position. However, the French will not put things easy for his rivals and will try to reinforce his leadership.

Kawasaki CLS’ Jeremy Van Horebeek completed the top five as he struggled with the track as much as teammate Steven Frossard, winning the Swedish GP but ending today’s qualifying in 11th.

Second best home rider was Nestaan JM Racing KTM’s Joel Roelants finishing seventh right behind Gautier Paulin.
